As Always....
Merry Christmas
It's hard being at work these last couple of days, we're basically on skeleton crew so it's eeerily quiet, a lot of customers aren't open due to Christmas shut down, the cheques are done, so all there is to do is fine ways to occupy your time and watch the clock tick-tock slowly by....can't wait for my hour lunchbreak to get out of here. Hopefully the afternoon will go a bit faster. Not even quite sure what I'll do on my lunchbreak, all I know is I'm not staying inside the building. Guess I'll go wherever my car leads me....
We don't really have New Year's plans yet...per se...we do have options, just not sure what we've decided to do yet. I do know that Saturday night we're going to purchase the UFC pay per view event, not sure the # or name of it all I know is Tito Ortiz and Chuck Lidell (I think) are fighting. Should be fun, I would never turn UFC on if I were home alone yet when Kristen turns it on I start watching and I can't stop. It really is addictive.
Not much else to say, to quote my Dad "well, I'm out of words" .....

How the Grinch,...I mean Kristen...Stole Christmas
You hop on the back of a tractor and take about a 5 min ride to where the trees are. You get there, take a saw and start walking through the trees to find the one that's "just so" for your home.
Kristen and I immediately go the opposite way of Myrna & Jamie, and every tree that I say what "about that one", Kristen goes...Christa be serious....I'm like "I am! You're not going to find a PERFECT tree Kristen"....so we stop at 2 trees that we're just about to cut and Kristen goes..."let's look a little more."
We start looking again and we find Myrna and Jamie, who has just finished cutting down their tree.
Right next to them is a tree that was one of their "potential" choices, and Kristen is like well what do you think of this one Christa? I said Kristen "I don't care, you're going to pick whatever, just pick a tree." So he goes "well GUARD This one and I'll look around..."
As I'm waiting, Myrna decides to take my picture I say to her, "I bet you he's gone on and cutting a tree!" And we turned around here comes Kristen with a tree! I said Kristen you seriously didn't cut down the tree without me, he said well you said just cut one, I said yes but I still wanted to be there and have a bit of an opinion. So YES Kristen ruined Christmas...!!! Well not really but I was disappointed. I think he felt bad too, though he would NEVER admit it in a million years! As soon as he showed up Myrna goes "ooohh'' in that oh you're in trouble tone...! :)
Overall it was a good day, and well worth it, we paid the same for the tree as if we went and bought it from a Zellers parking lot and we got the tractor ride and hot chocolate for free! I would recommend this to anyone who lives in the area for next year or this year if you haven't purchased your tree yet. So much fun!
Just a few more pics:

Real vs Fake
A real tree can be an environmental choice this Christmas. For every tree harvested at a tree farm, another 10 are planted to ensure a crop every year; and one acre of Christmas trees on a farm will produce enough oxygen to support about 18 people and remove up to 13 tonnes of airborne pollutants per year. Although Christmas trees have been a problem for landfills in the past, many municipalities now chip them for mulching material. If your town doesn't recycle, use the branches and needles for mulch in your garden.

Happy Surprises
Friday night I decided to stay home (as mentioned in last post) to do my house cleaning and decorate for Christmas (will post pics later)...to find out Kristen's parents (mom and step dad) showed up by surprise from Nova Scotia. I told them I was expecting them to show up for Christmas, they said they were going too but Cyril (step dad in-law) has to have a surgery next week and wouldn't be well enough to drive at that time, so they came now :) What a great surprise!
Yet, I'm completely overwhelmed. Because I want to spend time with them, yet I'm so busy with the holiday season. Saturday's dinner party went quite well in my opinion, some pictures were taken, will post them tomorrow if I have a chance to download them tonight. My favourite part was the appetizer called Baked Crab Rangoon that I made:
It turned out just like the picture on the Kraft Canada Website! And tasted even better! Yay :)
Yesterday I finished the Nfld shopping but not without being in a lousy mood, I realized yesterday that the Christmas crowds really aggravate me. Luckily everything on my list was checked off AND I got really good deals too, so it all balances out in the end.
Tonight's focus will be gift wrapping....wrap, wrap, wrap (there's a LOT to be wrapped) maybe some laundry and I HAVE to call Jen, haven't talked to her in a week and a half. Starting to suffer withdrawl but it's just been so busy! I'm even cancelling my weekly walk with Myrna tonight so I can just stay home and get the wrapping done plus I want to spend time with my in-laws, they're leaving Wednesday...short visit :(
AND...on another Festive note: WE HAVE SNOW!!! (only a couple of inches) I was in such a rush this morning to get out the door thinking the drive was going to be horrible, that I forgot my purse (this is a catastrophe in the world of a woman since her whole LIFE is in her purse) to find out nobody else had snow and the drive was fine...phew. Also Kristen's parents are going to Brampton today so I'm going lunchtime to get my purse from them...another huge PHEW! This also means I can run a couple of errands on my lunchbreak....it's a good thing I get an hour for lunch :)
Happy Monday Everyone!

Three's a Charm
And today is the same...it was a crazy week at work due to month end deadlines and very cranky customers. I won't go any further cause it's just not worth it.
Today is cold, rainy and windy...pretty miserable. But honestly I would rather have snow...yes I said it...I want snow! I hate driving in it but I love snow this time of year. Definitely makes things more festive.
Tonight I'm skipping Kristen's hockey, my plan tonight is to go to the grocery store, then do some cleaning and take out ALL MY CHRISTMAS STUFF! Yay! Because tomorrow Kristen and I are hosting a Christmas dinner party, think there'll be around 10 of us so hoping it goes over well. Nothing fancy, just an excuse to get together and chow down!
And Sunday I'm going SHOPPING! I'm going to Old Navy to get me some deals! this will hopefully finish the family, then all that's left is Kristen....and he's easy to shop for cause there's so many things I could get him, the hard part is figuring out what to get out of all the options. The Budget helps :)
Anyway....now that you know exactly what I'm doing this weekend, I shall sign off...my blog is so entertaining....NOT! Oh speaking of "not" has anyone seen Borat? Very politically incorrect but funny...I think I may have mentioned it before but if not...I just did :)

Great Spirits...
Kristen turned our outside lights on last night (we put them up Saturday night and I don't really like the final outcome but it'll do for this year) and this Friday I'm skipping hockey and getting all my decorations put up inside the house (except for the tree since we're having a real one)
Also want to say CONGRATULATIONS to Jody, Craig and Daymon Brake on the birth of their new daughter/sister Gina Rosalind born Nov. 24th weighing in at 7 lbs. 10 oz (I think that's right?!?) what a special gift to receive just before Christmas. I hope all is well!
And totally excited that I bought myself some new boots this past Friday, they're not the ones I originally wanted from Payless since they sold out but these are better :) Boots rock!

Update...
We have taken money aside to pay for our trip down south in the spring (not sure where we're going yet) going to buy a new video camera and Kristen will spend the rest on himself (more than likely on tools...lol)

The Queen of Ramblings
Jennifer: today is her last day at work, and just over 3 days from now she will be on a plane to Nfld. Looking forward to seeing her at hockey tonight, I've avoided her all week (via email, calling in the evenings) out of consideration of her VERY busy schedule, from training the girl replacing her, to packing, to probably countless conversations with people interupting her at work to say good-byes, etc. Mryna told me as of 2pm she had cried once, I'm sure it's been much worse since then.
Christmas Shopping: this weekend's "to do list" is to finish the gift shopping for the Nfld family (my parents, Kristens parents, his sisters, granparents) I finished my mom lunchtime, grandparents will be finished tonight whenI go to walmart to buy gift cards to go with their gifts, and Sunday, Kristen and I will finish the rest after his hockey game. Then all that's left are the Ontario family and each other :) Yay! I LOVE Christmas!
LED lights: We going to buy LED lights for the outside of the house this weekend, I like the classic look of white lights but I don't like how the LED lights look light blue (called icy white on the box), even though they say they're white. Much to my delight this year they brought out 'pure white' which are a clear bright white, and then they have 'soft white' which almost have a yellow cast to them and look more like non LED traditional white lights. I'm so torn!! I don't know which of the whites I want to buy now....pure white or soft white?!?! Any tips from someone who may have bought them?
Decorating: I love decorating the house for Christmas, I will probably start Dec. 1st since Kristen and I are hosting a dinner party on the 2nd. Everything but the tree will be out/up, we put up a real tree as of last year so that can't be done til closer to Christmas. There are a couple of things that I would 'like' to buy to add to my collection but they're not necessities so not sure if I'll end up getting it or not...the couple of things I have in mind are a wreath (with gold and ivory accents) for the front door and ivory ribbon/ornaments for the tree - I have enough in gold. So nothing too expensive or important meaning if I don't get around to buying these things not a big deal.
Anyway...enough for one Friday afternoon. Have a great weekend everyone!

My New CAR!!
In other news, I have good/bad news...good because Jennifer got a new job...Yay! Bad because it's in Newfoudland...Waaaaa! I know all she's ever wanted was to get the opportunity to move home and now she has, however it's at the price of leaving me!! Well not just me but I am taking it a bit selfishly right now....lol. Either way I want to wish you all the best Jen and good luck! I'll miss you lots but I know it's for a good reason so that'll hopefully make it a bit easier to cope :)

Pictures of Pumpkin Carvings
And of course the girls, this was my 3rd attempt at this picture since I was just figuring out the timer on my camera.
Today at work SO many people are dressed up. I will post pictures tomorrow of some of the great costumes. Our department all came to work in pj's for our Pyjama Theme party :)
Happy Halloween Everyone!

Annual Pumpkin Carve Tonight!
I'm carving 3 pumpkins tonight, 1 for Esau and 2 for me. I do have a 4th pumpkin, if I do decide to carve that one, it'll have to be some other evening before Tuesday cause I know I won't have time or feel like doing that many tonight. I also keep all the seeds cause Kristen bakes YUMMY pumpkin seeds.
Since it's been such a busy week, here are some pictures that I haven't had a chance to post....
This was last Thursday, Steph came by to for a bit and Tristan decided he wanted to watch some of the Leafs game with Kristen. GO LEAFS GO!
Saturday: Kristen and I babysat Esau, this is when he was having his 3.5 hr nap! Yes that long! He's so sweet, a typical 2 year old (well almost two), and LOVES water. Caught him with his two hands in the toilet bowl, splashing away and laughing and sqeauling much to his delight! And much to my horror, when I grabbed him he put his TWO hands in his mouth. I immediately washed his hands with soap and wiped his face, but really how do you wash out his mouth? The damage was done....poor thing...I'm such a horrible sitter....lol.And here's our front porch, all ready for Halloween, I'll post more pics of the pumpkins lit up on Halloween night. I love to get those pumpkin lights to hang above the door so I could keep the porch light off but I doubt I'll get a chance to get out and buy any this weekend. Not a big deal. Can you see my wooden ghosts in the window? There's an orange light that glows behind them.
Will also post pictures of the pumpkin carve tonight and the oh so awesome finished products. Have a great weekend everyone! Oh anyone going to Halloween parties this weekend?? Would love to see pictures of your costumes :)

Pondering the Past Year....
Last year this time I was going bonkers, trying to get all the paperwork finalized for our house. This year this time, Kristen is working on our 1 yr list to send to Tarion for things that need to be fixed in the house (not a whole lot I don't think....)
I'm very proud of Kristen and I, a lot has happened in the past year, we moved into our house, went to Cuba, we've celebrated birthdays, we've been sad and stressed for friends and family, I started a new job, moved to a new town, and just been through many ups and downs in general. Yet here we are, happy and healthy....whatever doesn't kill us only makes us stronger, I believe that to be very true.
I asked Kristen what our goals are for 2007 (I know it is a bit early to ask yet) and he said go down south again and I said go to Nfld both of which are in the works but still not definite. I also threw in, a wedding!?!? But nope, really don't think that's going to happen actually shouldn't say "think", I KNOW that's not going to happen. Honestly though, I would love for their to be a wedding this summer....not my own!!
I'm thinking of a couple of friends who've been together as long as Kristen and I but seem to be at a different point in their lives than us, they're at the point where they're soon ready to have children (in case you haven't been reading my blog, that's at least 2 yrs away for me). Meaning in every aspect of their lives there couldn't be a better time....plus all their closest friends will be in Nfld the same time as them and nobody would miss out on the joyous occassion :)
Anyway, that's my two cents worth on THAT topic! So yeah, that's my thoughts on this gloomy, cool and wet Friday morning. Any suggestions of what I can add to my 2007 to do list?!?! Love anything creative.....

I don't know what to call this post :)
Mono - a small town out in the country not far from Shelburne,....went there Saturday night to an old co-workers house....very nice...I have pictures to post later.
Jury Duty - I received a survey in the mail that I am required by law to fill out and return within 5 days. Doesn't mean I have to go to court...yet...just means I might be selected at a later date for a jury selection....great, just great! I mailed back my survey this morning.
Pumpkins - Purchased on Sunday since there was a sale at A&P I bought 4...3 for me and 1 for Kristen's little cousin Esau. Not sure what I'm going to carve yet, need to figure that out soon.
Hockey - Freezerland lost Friday night 4-1 against a crazy, fightin, psycho team! Can't even imagine if they were losing. And the Almag team lost on Sunday as well...something like 6-1 if I remember....he he he.
Volleyball - cancelled this week due to construction in one of the school gyms :( SUCKS!
Christmas - Only 68 days til CHRISTMAS!!! Have you started shopping yet? I have...I know I'm so anal....lol.

Happy Thanksgiving
It was a great thanksgiving weekend for me, lots done around the house, beautiful weather, yummy dinner with friends and family and my brother came to visit.
Friday night went to watch Kristens hockey game, it was one of the funniest things I've seen in a while. They were down 3-0 in the third period and a drunken brother of one of the players comes out to the rink area from the bar area and starts screaming and cheering to the top of his lungs! I think I mentioned in a previous post how Freezerland is the sponser this year...well everytime that a player would do something good, this drunker brother would scream "give him a case of chicken!!!"....or my favourite "give him a slice of bologny!!!" It was somewhat embarassing sitting right next to him but yet I couldn't stop laughing the whole time. To make matters even funnier, the guys came back and won the game 6-4 !!!! I know it was because the brother cheering got them out of their slump....I'll let you know if he shows up again this Friday.
Saturday I got my house almost 90% back to normal, then Blaine came to visit. He stayed til about 5pm then he dropped me off to the grocery store. I picked up a few things then walked home. It was soooo nice out! I love walking in the fall, my arms were really sore from carrying the groceries but worth it. I then made homemade pizza for Kristen and I, which we gobbled up when he got home from hunting. And then we met up with Myrna and Jamie at our friends Corey and Vickys. Spent a couple hours there and went home.
Sunday....watched the movie The Lake House with Sandra Bullock and Keanu Reeves, it's classified as Sci-fi romance, I loved it. Kristen hated it, said it was too chessy, obviously it was the cheese factor that I loved about it :) After a bite to eat he once again,...went hunting. I made stuffing and headed to Myrna's and Jamie's house for Thanksgiving dinner, in the words of Rachel Ray it was YUM-O!! Kristen showed up later then we headed home to watch another couple of movies, we rented The Weather Man which Kristen fell asleep through, I thought it was okay but wouldn't really recommend it to anyone nor watch it a second time.
Which brings us to Monday...bored yet? lol....
Kristen and I watched RV with Robin Williams, very cute! I even laughed out loud a couple of times. Then we brought our movies to Myrna and Jamie's (along with a couple of eggs that she needed) to swap with their movies, they had V for Vendetta and Take the Lead which wouldn't work in the DVD player so Myrna had to bring it back to the movie store. So we watched that, then Kristen went hunting, I then started scrapbooking my pictures of CUBA! Finally.....have 7 pages almost completed and so far pleased with my work.
So yeah this whole post has been lots of rambling but it's what I feel like doing today :) Tonight I have a meeting for the volleyball season starting tomorrow and then tomorrow Volleyball starts...woo-hoo!!! Can't wait, seriously need to get my butt in shape!
Anyway, til next time.
