9 More Sleeps

Only 9 more sleeps and I'm on VACATION!! Woo-hoo!! I'm so excited about going home this summer, it'll be nice to be able to be at Stephs wedding but my main motivation is to see my family. It's hard being so far away and only seeing them once every year or two years. And now that all my friends are on vacation and they keep telling me how great a time they're having and how they really needed this break that I realize how much I need a break and a real vacation.

I spoke with Myrna Monday night and she was telling me how her wedding went perfectly. Which I'm so happy to hear, even though I couldn't be there I had hoped everything would go well. Can't believe she'll be back to work next week already and now as a Mrs. So weird....lol.

I spoke with Jen last night and she's just gushing on about how great it is to see the family and be home spending time with them. She also agreed that Myrna's wedding was perfect. At least everyone is in agreement that it was wonderful. Can't wait to see pictures & the video (which Myrna tells me the sound might only be the crashing waves....lol).

Well those are my thoughts for today on this rainy wednesday morning, and boy have we needed the rain. I would honestly be okay with it raining for the rest of the week :) but don't tell anyone I admitted that.

Thought for Today

A Thought on Confidence

David Robert Boyd Barnes

Thoughts for today

Today is Friday, the day before Myrna's big day. I'm so happy for her but just as disappointed that I couldn't be there. Last night seeing Jen and Chris pack up their vehicle for their vacation tempted me so much to just pack up the car and drive right behind them, all the way to PEI. Obviously we didn't or I wouldn't be posting this blog. It's all going to be okay though, I'll see the video, I'll see the pictures, and I'll hear all the stories. It will just have to do.

Also want to say congratulations to Bobby and Lisa Barnes who welcomed their new bundle of joy into the world yesterday. David Robert Boyd Barnes came into the world at 9lbs 8oz and 62 cm long. Congrats!

As for my weekend plans, tonight I will be unpacking and repacking boxes to prepare for my Aunts yard sale. This will be our last big "weeding out" of our belongings before moving in October. Tomorrow we'll bring everything to my Aunts house to make a couple of $$, we seriously aren't doing it for the money. We do it just to get rid of the clutter, cause whatever is left over we bring straight to the Salvation Army store. I want the move to the new house to be a fresh start free of clutter, ugly furniture and bad decor decisions...lol. I'm sure I'll still make them but at least Kristen and I have a better feel for our style now.

Well that's it for now, just wanted to ramble a bit on this sleepy Friday morning. Have a great weekend everyone :) Oh two weeks from today and I'll be on vacation in Nfld.

House Forms

I want to keep posting pics of the progress of my house. Boring to those of you who have already purchased their first home or for those who just don't care about houses...lol.

But for those of you who are interested, here's the latest pic. This is of the forms into which they pour our concrete foundation.

This past Saturday I went to Jason and Stephs Jack & Jill and what a time did we have. I've only included the sensible pics cause some were just too crazy to post. Everyone had a great time, Jason and Steph made a bit of money to help towards their wedding costs, even though there was a small crowd everyone was in great spirits.

This is the wedding that I'm going home for in August, only 18 sleeps from today and that's where Kristen and I will be...woo-hoo!!

Our house is FINALLY started!

House footings Posted by Picasa

YAY!! I'm so excited, we finally have the beginnings of a foundation. I know all those lines make no sense to you but let me try to explain...to your far left that rectangle you see is our garage. To the right front, that will be our cold cellar downstairs and porch upstairs. Then the big open area with to big cement circles or blobs will be everything else, bedrooms, kitchen and great room. I'll keep posting pics as the house progresses. Just over 3 months and we will officially be homeowners :)

Girls Cottage Weekend 2005

Girls Cottage Weekend 2005 Posted by Picasa

Its been a weekend of mixed emotions. This weekend was the 5th Annual Girls weekend and 3rd annual "cottage" weekend. We had a lot of fun, great weather, great company and great food. What more could you ask for? It was a relaxing and refreshing time away.

However, it was a difficult weekend for me. On Friday night I rec'd a call about 30 seconds before I was to leave work for the day my mom called me to tell me there had been a terrible accident. Kristens Uncle, his wife and their baby had went off the road, at that point all my mom knew was that Kristens Aunt was dead and that his Uncle and the baby were being rushed to the hospital. I thought I was going to pass out when she told me, I had no idea how to react, I started to panic a bit but quickly pulled myself together and just started shaking. I kept telling my mom, find out for sure if its true, what if its just gossip. But Kristens family called not long after to confirm the worse. They were in Nfld on vacation, with the hopes of Christening their 6 month old baby boy. As of now Kristens Uncle is hoping to get out of the hospital today, the family service is tomorrow evening where they will also perform the christening of the baby. And Wed will be the funeral. Its such a sad situation, but the whole family is there for support, to get him and the baby through this terrible time. Kristen and I will not be going to the funeral since we're going home in a few weeks but we'll make a point of visiting the grave and saying our goodbyes when we're home.

Congratulations Lynn & Darryl

Its been such a long road, but finally they have their first bundle of joy. Lynn & Darryl started dating in highschool, they were married July 1st, 2000 and have been trying to have a child ever since. They've had two miscarriages, lots of emotions especially sadness and frustration, they built a new home, and then as of yesterday became parents. Lynn was due either June 23 or July 1st (two ultrasounds, two dates) however he just didn't want to come out, so yesterday they induced her. From the time they started the process to his birth it was approx 2 and 1/2 hours. Mom and baby are doing fine even though she is "extremely" sore, as expected I would assume.

He was 10lbs and is being named Philip Clarence Sheppard (Philip after Lynns dad and Clarence after Darryls dad) Both families couldn't be more excited. Especially Darryls parents who have all grand-daughters and can now say they have a grandson. Grandmother Audrey has already purchased him his first TONKA truck...he he.

Can't wait to see him when we go home in August. Congratulations Lynn and Darryl, its been a long road but through it all its been worth it and you deserve all the best.

Congratulations Kayla

Kayla with Classmates Posted by Picasa

Its taken me a couple of weeks to get these pictures on here. Two weeks ago today my cousin Kayla who is like a little sister graduated from highschool. I wanted to post some of the pics since she and her class all looked so beautiful. Wish we could have been there but with a trip planned for August it just wasn't feasible.
I'm so proud of her and look forward to seeing her succeed not only in college but in life. She's intelligent, brave, and tough (not going to get pushed around) all good attributes to have. I hope nothing but the best for you Kayla, CONGRATULATIONS!

Websites telling me who I am?

Myrna sent me a website today about your birthday. You enter your date and it tells you all these facts about when you were born and what it means. Once you get to the end of the page it says, find out what your name means: click here....so I did. I thought it was quite interesting on how they were actually correct about a lot of things about me, so I'm going to share:

Your number is: 3
The characteristics of #3 are: Expression, verbalization, socialization, the arts, the joy of living.

The expression or destiny for #3:An Expression of 3 produces a quest for destiny with words along a variety of lines that may include writing, speaking, singing, acting or teaching; our entertainers, writers, litigators, teachers, salesmen, and composers. You also have the destiny to sell yourself or sell just about any product that comes along. You are imaginative in your presentation, and you may have creative talents in the arts, although these are more likely to be latent. You are an optimistic person that seems ever enthusiastic about life and living. You are friendly, loving and social, and people like you because you are charming and such a good conversationalist. Your ability to communicate may often inspire others. It is your role in life to inspire and motivate; to raise the spirits of those around you.

The negative side of number 3 Expression is superficiality. You may tend to scatter your forces and simply be too easygoing. It is advisable for the negative 3 to avoid dwelling on trivial matters, especially gossip.

Your Soul Urge number is: 5

A Soul Urge number of 5 means: The 5 soul urge or motivation would like to follow a life of freedom, excitement, adventure and unexpected happening. The idea of travel and freedom to roam intrigues you. You are very much the adventurer at heart. Not particularly concerned about your future or about getting ahead, you can seem superficial and unmotivated.
In a positive sense, the energies of the number 5 make you very adaptable and versatile. You have a natural resourcefulness and enthusiasm that may mark you as a progressive with a good mind and active imagination. You seem to have a natural inclination to be a pace-setter. You are attracted to the unusual and the fast paced.

You may be overly restless and impatient at times. You may dislike the routine work that you are engaged in, and tend to jump from activity to activity, without ever finishing anything. You may have difficulty with responsibility. You don't want to be tied down to a relationship, and it may be hard to commit to one person.

Your Inner Dream number is: 8

An Inner Dream number of 8 means: You dream of success in the business or political world, of power and control of large material endeavors. You crave authority and recognition of executive skills. Your secret self may have very strong desire to become an entrepreneur.

Check it out for youself!!
