Cause for Debate

I know my post today will be met with a lot of disagreement, but this is my blog and my two cents worth.
I heard on the radio this morning how the OLG has been criticized for buying foreign cars to use in a promotional they're doing. They bought Mercedes, claiming this promotion was planned long before the economic crisis.
Well won't you just cry me a river! I'm sick and tired of hearing GM & Chrysler being victims. Boo-hoo!
The reason they're in the situation they're in, is because of greed and poor management. If this was ANY other company than one of the "big three" nobody would have any pity for them. They'd say you made your bed now lie in it. It's just BUSINESS!
Do I feel bad for those who have and will lose their jobs, absolutely. Nobody should ever be in that situation. However, if these big managers weren't so money hungry and actually cared about the overall well being of the company they would have made wise decisions when it mattered. Instead they mass produced, creating vehicles for cheap, which usually meant more flaws & problems.
Then the competitors "foreign, if you will" create companies with less discrepancies, better management, and they're cars actually cost more than the "domestic" cars and yet they're selling like hot cakes.
Then you have Chrysler employees with bumper stickers "Out of a job yet? Keep buying foreign!" Well since when was buying things from the USA not considered foreign? Is Canada not it's OWN country and the US a foreign country from us? Are the big three not considered US companies? And from what I can tell, our Toyota was probably built at the plant in Cambridge, ON which is 40 min from where I live. Now tell me how foreign is that car? If I'm wrong with that then I'm sorry, but it doesn't change the fact that Toyota employs Canadian residents...huh, go figure.
To make matters worse, they won't even admit to being wrong. Instead they're victims! Get over yourself and move on. You think you're the only person to ever have a problem? Or to make a mistake?
Our society is SO close minded!! Did it ever occur to you that our society is evolving? We won't always be so obsessed with cars. We're a society that's going towards being GREEN, being enviromentally friendly. Did it ever occur to you that as our world evolves new jobs will too?
50 years ago our world wasn't employed by auto makers, Microsoft, Apple and so on. So why do we think now that we've come this far that it's just going to stop and we're no longer going to advance and change how we think and work?
I'm sorry to vent here like this today but I just don't want to hear about it anymore. Let's look at the positive, let's look at the opportunities this is creating! Let's be proud of the world we're becoming instead of dwelling on what once was.

Oh and guess what....I LOVE my Toyota!!!

Today's Quote
"One of the very first things I figured out about life...is that it's better to be a hopeful person than a cynical, grumpy one, because you have to live in the same world either way, and if you're hopeful, you have more fun"   ~Barbara Kingsolver
