Useless Knowledge

I'm a useless knowledge junkie, I just LOVE it! Give me a fun fact or list of "Did you Know?" and I'm in my glee. I was just reading the monthly newsletter of www.homemadesimple.com and they had all kinds of fun facts scrolling up the page. Here are a few that caught my eye....

An onion, apple and potato all have the same taste. The differences in flavor are caused by their smell. I need to research this one, cause I like onions and potatoes but not apples. But its a texture thing not a flavour/scent thing.

Apples, not caffeine, are more efficient at waking you up in the morning. I'll continue using my trusty sidekick the alarm clock, can you imagine an apple in the side of the head first thing in the morning? Ouch.

Every day more money is printed for Monopoly than the U.S. treasury. There is absolutely no point in knowing this fact, what can I now do with this information?

On average, you speak almost 5,000 words a day - although almost 80% of speaking is self-talk (talking to yourself). I think I'm extremely guilty of this one :)

The harmonica is the world's best-selling music instrument. I love listening to someone playing harmonica around the campfire.

Ketchup was sold in the 1830's as medicine. Based on that Myrna is either the healthiest or unhealthiest person I know...lmao!
